Ann Rule books are always good, no great! This one will not disappoint in the least. As usual, Ann weaves the story in such a way that the reader comes face to face with the seemingly lack of basic human emotions within the murderer and how that effects all involved in the wake of the ghastly murder. I have often been asked why I like to read books about true crime. The usual question posed, "How can you stand to read those awful murder stories?" I don't enjoy reading about someone else's often untimely and awful death, but I do enjoy when a book explores every avenue that law enforcement officers, and everyone involved in solving the crime, and the subsequent court trial to bring the murderer(s) to justice. Ann Rule always tells the story from every perspective, including all those that loved and misses the victim. Each Ann Rule book about murder gives me a new insight into the term public servant. If you have ever entertained the notion that police officers, district attorneys or anyone else that works for the justice system are bad people, books like this one will certainly set you straight.

Once again, Ann Rule has drawn me into yet another novel with her compelling story telling. She paints a vivid picture of greed, manipulation, narcissism, sociopathic behavior that reaches beyond anything I've read before. Rule is fair in her findings, and she backs everything up with amazing amounts of detailed research. She brings home the fact that Chris was a loving, caring, highly thought of individual that although may at times have argued with his wife, things never went into the total manifestation his wife claimed they did. He was caught within the web of his wife, Liysa's many, many deceits, yet still managed to find hope that they could make their relationship work. Liysa is clearly a very mentally disturbed person, (she spent years laying plans) to establish false claims of abuse to garner sympathy, and only wanted her "defenders" of abused women's rights to back off when she thought it would ruin her chances for an acquittal. She preyed upon the sympathies of formerly abused women and tried to ruin a good man's reputation, when that didn't work, she simply killed him and tried to fall back on the "abuse" card to set herself free. It sickens me that she'll be free soon to reek havoc upon her sons lives. I found no discrepancies in this book, the evidence, court documents and witnesses (for both sides) speak for themselves and are hauntingly honest. Those that stand by Lisya's side are her enablers, and refuse to see the evil before them. Initially I went into reading this book thinking, huh, Ms. Rule doesn't care too much for Liysa, but after reading various news articles (of my own research) I found that many who came across her, as well as myself, felt the same way as Ms. Rule. Definitely worth the read, she draws you into the story enough to make you want to investigate various news articles on your own! Thank you Ms. Rule for yet another fascinating read!

I always enjoy Ann Rule books. I just wish there were even more books from her to order that I have not already read. If I had to bet my paycheck on it, I would say the main character is guilty. I hear she is now out of prison and remarried yet again. I suppose her new husband's days may be numbered too. Ann Rule always researches her characters and their pasts meticulously which makes her books much better than most any other true crime writer.

Every now and then, police and investigators are thrown a curve ball: a case not as cut and dry as it first appears on the surface. In "Heart Full of Lies," Ann Rule relates just such a bizarre tale of murder, abuse, and a woman's overly active fantasy life. She writes about the murder of Chris Northon at the hands of his wife Liysa while on a camping trip in Oregon's picturesque Wallowa County. This is a twisted tale, full of murky back stories meant to set the stage for what was supposed to have been viewed as a heroic escape from the monster husband terrorizing and threatening to kill her, but Liysa Northon left too many conflicting details out for public consumption for the shooting to be viewed as anything BUT murder.Since the convicted refused interviews with the author, Ann Rule puts together the story from recounts of the people who knew them best: Chris and Liysa's family and friends. The story is strong, the tale compelling, and Ms. Rule once again delivers to her loyal fans. A great read!

Ann Rule never disappoints. I have read all of her books, I think anyway, and she w rites with so much compassion and puts details in her books that most real crime w writers do not. I miss her and hope she knew what a good woman she was and a blessing to this world. She gives dignity to the victims ,and their families.

While reading this book the thought that kept coming to me was the old saying of 'what goes around comes around' and finally all the deceit and lies Liysa lived her life by caught up with her. However, it is with great sorrow that her husband Chris, his family and his friends had to pay the price for her cold-hearted greedy selfishness. I would think that the victim's of true domestic violence would take offense that she used that as a fabricated excuse to justify killing Chris in cold blood. She is a cunning liar with a grandiose opinion of herself that has no remorse for the pain she has inflicted on those that were unfortunate to come across her path. The written evidence that was found on her recovered computer files plotting the murder of her husband speaks for itself as to her guilt. More often than not what goes around does come around...eventually.
