If given a choice of which character in any Pride and Prejudice Variation that I hate the most, it would be a toss up between the harridan Gorgon Lady Catherine, wicked Wickham, conniving Caroline, or cruel, sycophantic Collins as he was in this story. A small cabin with the four of them hog tied with barrels of gunpowder ignited would end the tribulations caused by each of them quite dramatically without any loss except for the cabin. As usual, the four offensive characters setup the Bennets and Darcys for ruin at every turn. Forced attentions on unsuspecting, naive young ladies, untrue rumors spewed by refused vindictive jealous suitors, and vitriolic and false accusations leave ODC forced to marry. If this situation is not bad enough, ODC must deal with other ramifications of mistreatment and mistrust on other family members. But this author gave the horrible characters their just desserts, and ODC a HEA once the misunderstandings between them were unraveled and exposed.
I would give this five stars but I only have half the book... there must have been a mistake in printing because the first 172 pages of the book are for Gail Priest's Annie Crow Knoll: Sunrise, and the other half, starting at page 163, is the book I expected to be getting. I will raise rating if I can get the correct book in whole soon.Edit: rating raised because I did get a replacement book with the story I was actually expecting this time. Thank you!!
It's an interesting storyline and well written, though there are spelling errors. The one thing I didn't particularly like was the over-explanations of a character's thoughts; things would be explained, then explained again and again, whereas I felt that with a bit more editing, these sections could've been condensed as there was a lot of repetition.
I enjoyed this Variation but it seemed that it took forever for the 2 main characters to speak honestly with each other. Of course, there inability to do so was part of the momentum of 2/3 of the storyline. This bogged down the read for me. Once they had an honest exchange of dialogue it seemed the author just rushed to the conclusion. A good read but not the best.
This book was so well written that it pulled you along into the story that was deep and sad and tough at some points but always pretty real. The conversations between Darcy and Elizabeth were engaging and fun and at times very difficult. But this is a book well worth reading so do not miss it as it has it's own story to tell.
This is an intens variation of Pride and Prejudice. The circecumstance in which our couple must form there marriage are bleak, but in the end all is well
Arrived quickly and good story.
I liked this book immensely.It was great adaptation and characters really true to their original personalities.Very much enjoyed this.
